Apply for a Partners in Conservation grant!

Want to grow healthy food, improve water quality, restore fish and wildlife habitat, and support strong and sustainable communities? Partners in Conservation (PIC) Grants support conservation projects that are located within the District service area (all of Multnomah County east of the Willamette River) or serve its residents. The 2024 application period will open in the fall with applications due around Dec. 15, 2023. Funding areas include:

Soil health and water quality
Reducing and addressing climate impacts
Sustainable agriculture and community gardens
Outdoor and garden education programs
Fish and wildlife habitat restoration

Join our 2022 End-of-Summer Social Barbecue!

Join us on Sunday, September 11^th for our end-of-summer barbecue! All farmers and farm supporters are welcome for an evening of fun, food, drinks, stories and games.

When: Sunday, September 11^th from 4:00 to 7:00 PM
Socializing and drinks will begin at 4:00 PM, food service at 5:00 PM
Where: Rossi Farms, 3839 NE 122nd Ave, Portland, OR 97230 (map link)
Who: Up to 300 local farmers and farm supporters
What: Free dinner, drinks, music, and cornhole and disc golf competitions

This event is hosted by the Clackamas County Farm Bureau, EMSWCD, Mt. Hood Chapter of the Oregon Association of Nurseries, and the Multnomah County Farm Bureau.

Hot weather alert – cooling stations and locations, and related info

Here are some resources and information on staying cool through this hot weather! This post will be updated with any new information and resources as they become available.

If you need a place to cool off, Multnomah County has an interactive map of cooling centers, libraries, and water/recreation locations you can cool off at here. You can also find any updated information on cooling centers, misting stations and more at their Help for when it’s hot page, and information in additional languages.
Cooling centers are open 24 hours a day. Current locations include:
- Charles Jordan Community Center: 9009 N. Foss Ave., Portland
- East Portland Community Center: 740 S.E. 106th Ave., Portland
- Portland Building: 1120 S.W. 5th Ave., Portland
- Sunrise Center: 18901 E. Burnside, Portland
In addition, a daytime cooling center is open from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM in Old Town at 435 N.W. Glisan St., Portland.
Several Multnomah County libraries are open until 9:00 PM through to Saturday the 30^th. Find Multnomah Library locations here.
For transportation needs, TriMet will not turn anyone away if they cannot pay fares during the hot weather. TriMet asks riders to let their driver know they are headed to a cool place.
