Project: Quarterly Shade Equity Socials to build a more equitable urban forest by building relationships with diverse communities.
Project: Purchase of essential tools and supplies to improve the garden’s educational and volunteer programs, promote soil health and increase organically grown produce.
Project: Urban native plant pollinator garden at the entrance to church, Latinx nonprofits and preschool. The garden also features an accessible bilingual Little Free Library.
Project: A Chestnut Mapping Bub for chestnut stewardship, seedling distribution, and agroforestry education to support tree registration, harvest and future research.
Project: Gratitude Gathering to build capacity for diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice changemakers through community, shared stories, and celebration of growth and transformation.
Project: Earth Day event at Columbia Park, including pulling invasive weeds and planting native plants.
Project: Faubion pre-K teachers partner with Cedar Tree Learning to offer seasonal nature immersion in local habitats of the Columbia Children’s Arboretum and Whitaker Ponds Nature Area.
Project: The ¡Viva la Vida! Walk-a-Thon brings together the community to engage in physical activity, connect with nature, and raise awareness about Latine families’ health disparities.
Project: Harvest Fest at Prescott Elementary School is a free community event that improves civic engagement, connects people to resources, and nurtures positive relationships between partner organizations and local Black and Brown communities.
Project: Distributing food to the community, grown by the community, for the community.
Project: Wheels of Diversity Festival, bringing the community together for a vibrant celebration of culture, cycling and nature.
Project: Purchase of fertilizer and tools for East Asian community gardeners at the SE 150th & Division location.
Project: Three rolling-tub gardens, two for Transition Project’s Willamette Center and one for their Clark Street Center.
Project: At the Spring for Zenger event, Friends of Zenger Farm gives away vegetable starts, herb starts, seeds, and other garden-related goodies to help get its neighborhood gardens started for the year.
Project: A garden project will work to build bridges between families and teachers within this culturally rich community.
Project: School Garden and Soil Rehab at four Title I schools.
Project: Support maintenance for the Backyard Habitat-certified-native “living learnscape” in the school’s atrium.
Project: Improved access to the Willamette River with the installation of seven swim ladders at the Sellwood Dock.
Project: Funding to pay stipends for planners and speakers at the 2024 Intertwine Summit, an annual gathering of the region’s parks and nature, conservation, and environmental justice sectors.
Project: A container gardens pilot to provide renters in multifamily buildings in Lloyd EcoDistrict with starter container edible gardens, and the opportunity to learn about gardening on their balconies.
Project: Improvement of the environmental and habitat potential of the backyard at the Northeast Portland clinic located at 102nd and NE Skidmore.
Project: The 2024 Oregon Farm to School & School Garden Conference is a two-day event that includes multiple opportunities for connection, learning and skill-building for farm-to-school practitioners.
Project: Scholarships for farmers of color, veterans, students, and participants of farmer training programs in the EMSWCD and honoraria for farmer presenters.
Project: The CSA Share Fair connects the community with local small-scale farmers through education about Community Supported Agriculture and its environmental and economic benefits.
Project: Build nursery infrastructure to propagate plants for food forest sites located in Northeast Portland’s Cully neighborhood. This includes air prune boxes, tree and veggie seeds, scion wood, nursery stock, tools and soil.
Project: Rebuilding community and connection at the Parkrose and Sabin Community Orchards (POrch and SCOrch) through learning, working, and playing after the effects of organizational change and COVID.
Project: To revitalize the native plants and pollinator garden that support the school’s Seed to Snack educational garden. This space is an opportunity for outdoor education and to engage community.
Project: Coyote-palooza, a street fair-style outreach event held in spring 2024 to spread awareness about Portland’s urban coyote population.
Project: A community harvest party and seed-saving workshop at Rhythm Seed Farm, a regenerative urban farm in Northeast Portland. Portland residents will learn how to save their seeds and grow food at home.
Project: The Kid’s Patch is a weekly educational and engagement booth for kids. All kids ages 3-13 receive a $5 token to spend at any vendor at the market.
Project: Support for residents at five affordable housing apartments with planting vegetable and flower gardens. The gardens provide affordable, fresh, organic produce to supplement residents’ diets.
Project: Funding for five Title I school field trips (Marysville and Clark Elementary), including bus transportation and labor.
Project: Control invasive weeds, plant native plants, and upgrade the garden at the Community Native Garden at St. Johns Farmers Market.
Project: Empowering diverse, low-income youth from Portland to embrace the outdoors through long-term mentoring and meaningful community relationships.
